Facebook Pokes: The Unexpected Comeback

Facebook

Recently, poking has become popular again on Facebook, which is surprising since it’s been around for a long time. On Threads, Facebook’s messaging platform, there’s been a huge increase in people using the poke feature. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta (formerly Facebook), seems happy about it and even joked that “Nature is healing.”

The poke feature has been part of Facebook since it started back in 2004. It was there when Facebook was only for students at Harvard University. Over the years, Facebook made it harder to find the poke feature, but now it’s back in the spotlight.

Most of the people poking each other are younger, between 18 and 29 years old, according to Facebook. But what exactly is poking on Facebook?

When you poke someone on Facebook, it sends them a notification to let them know you did it. But there’s not much else you can do with a poke. You can only poke people who are your friends on Facebook. The poke feature is only available on Facebook, not on other apps owned by Meta like Threads, Instagram, or WhatsApp.

To poke someone on Facebook, you can go to your pokes page and find your friend’s name. Then, you click “poke” next to their name. Facebook has made it easier to find the poke page, so you can poke a friend when searching for them on the platform.

If you don’t want someone to poke you, you can block them on Facebook.
